and to add one more, to do a deep reset, switch the phone off.
then hold down star, 3, and the dial key. its a deep reset and is usually recommended than the normal reset to avoid further problems as you go about using your phone.

thanks a lot. for your replies. I need to do a deep reset. when I have those three keys held down, when my phone restarts, do I need to type in a code?
Thanks so much.

hmm,
a little correction here. disregard my previous post, well not entirely.
ok, let's go:
1. switch the phone off.
2. turn the phone on, and immediately do the following:
hold down the star, the 3key and the dial key for a few seconds. about three or four or so.
wait a few seconds more and the phone should ask for your pin code, enter it.
then you hear the lovely tune of Nokia and then it should ask for the date and time you can skip that by pressing key 1 two times or so. and change it when you've installed talks or mobile speak.
hope it helps, and I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong however, I've done it loads of times and its always worked for me.

hmm very strange. I tryed that, it still doesn't say anything. actually, I'll explain. I don't know what happened exactly, but when I turned on my phone a few days ago, it said phone restart failed please contact the retailor. since this happened, I can't do anything with my phone.
I hope I don't need to send it in.
thanks for your help.

Hi,
well, on some occasions my phone did tell me that however it wasn't as a result of the method I described in my previous post.
in fact, when my phone did give me the error that you got it was the reason for me actually resetting my phone. and when I did reset my phone with the described method, all worked fine for me.
I recommend you do it when there is someone sighted around so they can tell you if after you've done the method the phone would say formatting which will actually result in having it deep reset itself.
for me, I never done it with sighted people around and I knew that it worked since it would give me the sounds when you'd press a key to enter the pin code for example which I didn't have it on originally as it was kinda annoying.
if it don't work then I would hate to say this, but to take it in.
however, other people who might reply would probably have different opinions.
